Interview with Living Now Magazine, March 2003

Dream the Dream Not the Nightmare

by Terry & Elizabeth Stephens

Peace MotherTerry and Elizabeth Stephen recently had the amazing experience of interviewing Peace Mother Geeta who was at the Melbourne Airport en route to Queensland from Castlemaine, in country Victoria, where she spends much of her time while in Australia.

As a child she knew she was ‘special’, having a very intense spiritual desire, and then she forgot it again as a teenager. At 19 she remembered, committing herself to what she now calls the “path of impeccability”, and for eight years studied the teachings of the Ascended Masters, particularly relating to colour and sound. She then asked for an actual, living guru to guide her steps. That was when she found Swami Muktananda. He taught her particularly about the power of resonance - such as the energy created by running at the same time as singing. Muktananda died in 1982, and Guru Mayi was his successor. Peace Mother says, ‘My destiny was already set and it was clear that she was my teacher. I saw that she was doing the work (of blessing and teaching her students, giving public satsangs, etc.).

Although she is Mayan herself, Peace Mother had not delved into her own spiritual heritage until she met an indigenous Mayan teacher, Don Jacinto Tzab, who was 70 when she met him. Although a powerful shaman, the Don still retained child-like qualities and a sense of humour. He performed ceremonies for the land.

‘Don Jacinto completed the foundations laid by my Indian teachers. I received nightly instruction as I had with the other gurus, but the difference was that (by day) I worked up close as his student. He promised that he would give me all that he knew. So he said that there was no need for my impatience. Don Jacinto gave me the reconnection with my roots, but also he was the one who showed me how to defend humanity.

Traditions of India had given me ways through prayer and the seeking of enlightenment, but the words of “defending goodness” never occurred to me. It was Don Jacinto who showed me this was his world. He said that he had been “donated” to the world to do this work. It is the job of the real shaman. So now it seemed to me that service was far more important - I became on fire to help people.

‘If the spirit realms are trying to tell you something but you don’t get it, they’ll drag you down the streets’

’Don Jacinto gave me the vision that this was my real role. He would say: ‘She is already a master in her own traditions and has come here to learn the Mayan way.’ I thought: ‘Why does he keep saying that to people? But he was not - he was saying it to me.’ Now that we’ve given you a bit of background to Peace Mother, let us set the scene for you.

Elizabeth will paint this picture:
‘Terry was parking the car, and I arrived in the lobby of the Hilton at the Melbourne Airport and met this wonderfully colourful woman - complete with flowing shawl and headband - and the most divinely sparkling eyes. I apologised that I was taking frequent swigs of cold water from a bottle, since I had a toothache that had not responded to treatment. So she offered to do a healing on me while we were waiting for Terry.

‘Doing this job (editing this magazine) has led me to some amazing people and places over the years, but, as I sat there with my eyes closed, I thought that this experience probably topped the lot. Peace Mother stood next to me and started chanting with a powerful, sonorous voice over my head. The chant was in a mixture of Mayan and Spanish and went on and on and on.

I wish I could tell you that I relaxed into the healing vibrations, but I couldn’t. In fact, I took a peek every now and again to see if anyone was particularly watching.’ Here are Peace Mother’s words on some of the topics we covered that morning. Just about every sentence is power packed, and we recommend you take your time over it.

Finding our path
Wise warriors choose what they wish to experience in life. The Universe owes you nothing, because it has given you everything. Therefore, find a path of action!

People think that they have a choice, but they don’t. It is our sacred duty to love, to sing [she must have spontaneously burst into song a dozen times during the interview, to dance and to strive to be great.

All people have everything available to them if they are willing to do the work – so embrace that path of impeccability.

What if you don’t want to embrace it? Really, you have no choice or you’ll suffer. If the spirit realms are trying to tell you something but you don’t get it, they’ll drag you down the street. Have gratitude for your radiant life. You will find that the radiant life is an easy path!

Remember, nothing can be done without grace - you do a little bit and the Spirit Beings will do the rest. Of course, in following the impeccable path, some will love you, some will hate you, and the rest will misunderstand you. Yet, even if a million people say that some action is wrong, but you have a knowing that it is right, then for you it is right.

Whatever you are asked to do by the Beings, no matter how hard your mind thinks it is, say to the Beings, ‘It is a pleasure and an honour’.

To walk the path of impeccability is the way to happiness - everything else is in the hands of the Divine.

When you have self-love, you understand how precious you are to the Universe. Your vote counts. It counts tons upon tons - actual physical tons - not just a word. The Universe is holding its breath while we choose. Here’s a story to illustrate that - Siddharta (the Buddha) had gone through his training and had confronted demons and held his steadfastness. He was then given a choice, ‘You’re perfected and you don’t need to stay on Earth’. All of creation held its breath while he chose. He paused and said, ‘No, I’ll choose to stay and serve’. So beautiful blossoms were rained upon him.

How can we maintain a connection with the Spirit Beings?
By rituals, by movement and song, and by treating the Spirit Beings as they truly are - alive and real!

They have a longing to be given recognition by the physical world! We can perform such daily tasks as prayers for humanity, and rituals such as spreading rose petals. Even writing the names of people who bother you, and doing a “prayer request”, such as, ‘I now see you in balance, in wisdom, in humanity, spiritually protected and at peace’. And you can praise the positive energies that exist in the Universe. This feeds the wave of positivity!

Peace MotherLight and dark
Be aware that any time you are not supporting (feeding) the light, you are indirectly feeding the darkness! You cannot serve two masters: you can either serve negativity or serve the positive radiant valiant thoughts. Whenever you have a negative pollutant thought, do not entertain this “bad company”. Simple delete it as you do an unwanted email!Stay in the mindset of “dreaming the dream instead of the nightmare”. Say to the negative: ‘There is nothing for you here. I dissolve you!’
Ghandi said that, if the primary force were a violent one, after so many tyrants, dictators and wars, you’d think that there’d be no men and women left, but, because we have so many, the answer must be that the ruling force is love. We are golden children. We create the cycles. We empower them. We birthed everything. Everything came from within us.

Demonstrations and political activism
Be any kind of activist you want, so long as you are coming from a beautiful space.

Beware that your activism is not actually feeding the negativity! Don’t demonstrate against something in anger, because it irritates the magnetic fields of the people who are in charge of it. This make it harder for the positive Beings to guide those in charge.
At a personal level, with the irritated thought you send to someone, for instance, you are feeding the waves of negativity.

If we pray for our politicians, who knows what could happen? We saved The Miami Circle by praying for upliftment of the people who sought to disrupt the sacred sit, rather than by judging them. You see, inner peace can be intact whether we are protesting or not.

Creating Peace
We say we want peace, but do we have faith that this can exist? Pray for faith. Pray to understand our own power, to be the model of peace, so that when something is going on, we deal with it out of wisdom and not revenge. Peace is not difficult to have. Yet, people have more faith in their cars starting of a morning, than faith that their minds can bring peace!

Pray for the illumination of all people so that there will be the victory of love and compassion. Call for the positive forces – this “fattens” them.

If you invoke the good, it will come and possess you (as will the dark if you invoke that!). Be aware of the need for self-protection from dark forces because they are very slick.

When everyone is serving humanity, we have a beautiful world. Ask: ‘How can I be kinder, more compassionate and courageous, today?’

Then the world has to be a more brilliant place. Create the dream the same way we created the nightmare. Same power. That’s the missing piece of the puzzle. Wow! I am a creator. As above, so below.

As within so without. Our universe is not them - it’s us. If we’re insecure, jealous, gossiping, back-stabbers, imitating TV, then how can we have peace on earth? As within, so without - one follows the other. The faith is ourselves, us. Do you have faith in your thoughts or your prayers? We will pray one more prayer until there’s peace on earth.... That’s the first line of a song I wrote. Do we have that kind of commitment for peace? The Universe gives you what you really really want. As soon as we want it enough, we will have peace. As soon as we embrace the idea fully that we are representatives of peace, then we will have a different world.

Peace Mother Geeta is in Australia primarily to speak at this year’s Wesak in Brisbane in mid May, 2003

We dream the dream and then do our back-up work - our ‘altar work’, by dancing and by singing, to invoke the grace needed to heal the situation. We are in the path of grace and self-effort. It is not enough to have grace alone. We already have that. We must master self-effort. When we are the golden bird and fly beautifully and joyfully, we do have power, greater than nuclear power, inside of us!

Peace Mother will be one of the guests at Wesak in Brisbane
